Grow Generous

Grow Generous

Back in February I voiced my aspiration to find ways to give back to the community we call home. I had one particular idea brewing in my mind for quite some time and finally decided it was time to take action. A couple of conversations later and the wheels were set in motion. I am proud to announce the Grow Generous project. A mission that Shahira and I take great pleasure partnering in. Allow me to expand and explain the idea behind this venture. Many of us are in the habit of planting large gardens to feed our families and loved ones. I know I’ve been guilty of planting so much that some of it actually went to waste. By the end of harvest and canning season my pantry was full and there was still more to gather. The light bulb moment struck and after a brief conversation with our local Good Samaritan Mission the idea took shape. While our local food bank (who helps countless families in our area) has a large root cellar to store long lasting crops, they lack in the refrigeration department. Which means that fresh produce is not really an option. Here is where Shahira and I have made a commitment to help. For those of you fine folk who are interested in contributing some of your garden goods, on one specific day each month we will come and collect your contribution as well as deliver to the Good Samaritan Mission. It is also our goal to keep you informed of various items that are needed to help keep the Mission running smoothly, drop off locations, etc. If you are interested in joining our venture or would like more information, contact me anytime via email: michelle@burlapandvelvethome.com or phone/text: 780-266-9399 Together, we can #growgenerous

Special thanks to Back Forty Photography for the awesome pics & Lois at Birch Meadow for allowing us to invade her space. xo
