First & foremost I’d like to apologize for abandoning my readers for the last while. (Sorry Mom, I know you had just subscribed to the paper before I took my hiatus.) It was definitely not my intention to just tuck tail & disappear. As I mentioned weeks ago, we were preparing to move. Unlike normal folk who have sold their homes, the difference with us is that we had not purchased a new one. We have an undeveloped parcel of land for which we decided it was a good idea to finally “carve” out our own little piece of paradise. Sounds easy enough, right? I’m here to tell you that “easy” has NOT been a popular word in our vocabulary since the end of July. Situations went down that have humbled us & shook us to the core. I’m 99% sure not even the brilliant writing minds of Stephen King or Dean Koonz could come up with what we had going on. If I had to choose one word to sum up the last while, it would be bizarre. I won’t go into detail in this article, but rest assured I will definitely fill you in on my blog. Leaving our cozy home of 9 years was not a decision we chose lightly. We knew we would be “roughing” it for a while & had our work cut out for us. That didn’t scare me…not in the slightest. I welcomed the opportunity to build & create something that I’ve dreamed about for years. Something simple…low maintenance. A place where my family & I can just “be”. Enjoy what life truly has to offer without worrying about the hustle and bustle that some peeps thrive on. I’ve been there, done that and it’s time to move forward. As I sit here in the outdoors slurping my coffee, surrounded by sunshine, birdsong (& our springer spaniel snoring), I am reminded of a quote that speaks volumes. “A house is built will walls and beams, A home is built with love & dreams”. I will be sharing as much of our developing process as possible – I have a feeling some of my biggest & most challenging DIY’s are about to begin. Bring it on!!
