Easter is almost upon us & we all know what that means – egg hunts, huge dinners & overindulging on cheap chocolate. I always look forward to these times of year when families gather to share food, stories & build upon memories already created. As far back as I can remember I’ve always enjoyed entertaining & hosting get-together’s - trying out new recipes & decorating for the occasion. This week I thought I would share a few simple ideas you might want to incorporate. Simple Centerpiece for Your Table: A few mason jars (or smaller vases), thinly sliced lemon & limes and your favorite blooms from the local florist is really all it takes to add some liveliness to your table. Simply place them in the center of your table equal distances apart. Another option would be grouping them on a pretty platter with other elements you may have on hand or available (moss, pussy willows, smaller decorations, tea lights, etc.). Presenting the Goods aka Candy: 1-2 bags of smaller sized goodies (such as M&M’s or jelly beans) + 1 mason jar baby chick feeder (available at most feed supply stores). This is by far one of my most beloved ideas I have ever come across. Sooooo simple & looks cute too!! Spring Sangria: Because some of us might need a little help dealing with a house full of kids hopped up on endless supplies of sugar! 2.5 oz. Brandy; 2.5 oz. Grand Marnier; 2.5 oz. Cointreau; three quarters litre of Red Wine; Lemon, Orange, Lime slices; Cinnamon Stick; Top up with Sprite, Ice & 3 Tbsp. Sugar. Combine Brandy, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, cinnamon stick & fruit (press fruit a little to release some juice). Let sit for half hour if possible. Add remaining ingredients, stir & let sit to allow flavors to blend. Stir again & enjoy. This recipe can be made with White or Sparkling wine as well. If using Sparking wine try swapping out citrus fruit with strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries. Cheers & Happy Easter everyone!
